The year 2009 witnessed a surging and exemplary improvement in the game of soccer in our school. From its juvenile stage now the soccer of our school has touched its culmination. In the beginning of the year the game was in staggering position but when we were invited to play in the 12th Bhupinder Singh Cup hosted by Lawrance School Sanawar, it was a 'dream come true' offer to us. Our team geared up for the forthcoming tournament and practiced hard from dusk to dawn. All the footballers laboured hard under the active guidance of their coach.
Their hard labour did not go waste as at the end of the tournament everybody was stunned by seeing the performance of our players. We were playing with the teams which have been playing soccer for a long time. The distinguished school's and college's teams had taken part in this tournament. Some of them are; BCS Shimla, Doon Valley School, Dehradoon, Sherwood College, Nainital, Y.P.S. Patiala and the host team which is known for soccer.
In the month of Oct. our team took part in 'CBSE Cluster' in which 16 teams from the northern region participated. We were able to grab 3rd position. Our team has been participating in tournaments as and when it is invited. Apart from it every now we have been playing our regular fixture with other schools and have performed considerably well.
The day is not far when Durganians will lift up the Bhupinder Singh Soccer Cup and will make their school the pride of nation.
The closing year added one more feather in the crown of Durga Public School when the school football team won the inter school and inter district football championship held at Thodo Ground, Solan.
