"EXCURSION AND EXPLORATION OF NEW HEIGHTS"
Today with the relaxed thrill and excitement I am feeling the enchantment of awesome bone cutting chillness that our group of 160
th plus Durganians experienced during the trek to the Choordhar ranges. On 12 , April, 2008 it was bright and sunny. All trekkers
boarded in four school buses and conquered the destination within 7 hours.
We stayed at the exterior of Saran Village in Chopal of
Distt. Shimla. As per the local dialect, the term chopal stands for a village. The word chopal was suiting best when we got up in the
early dawn of April 13, and the place was haunted by cedar trees.
We started restocking our tucks for the day's steep challenges that we were going to face on the up roaring hill of Choordhar. As we
had our breakfast, the whole group started the trek to Chooreshwer Mahadev. The historical temple is situated at an approximate
height of 3700 m on the peak. Skating, rolling, and throwing snow balls on each other were the views which enjoyed.
Due to ice were halted many a times. At one time it seemed very tough to succeed over our set target because we were
carrying junior boys and girls along with us. The trekkers belonging from plain region of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Kolkata & Raja than
enjoyed the small hillocks of glaciers for the first time in their life. The steep hill of Choordhar Mahadev tested the patience of our tiny
trekkers, but their zeal of following the seniors was appreciable. After 6hrs. we were capable to swing and jingle the holy bells of
Chooreshwar Mahadev.

All students were realizing themselves top of the world he scenic view, at this heights above the
clouds, was similar to heaven. A group of 12 boys under the leadership of our honourable Manager & Mr. Yogender Sharma
climbed the height of more than two hundred meters after reaching the temple. This group experienced the most difficult part of their
journey. While returning, all the members of our group were happy enjoyed the fresh herbal breath of extensive vegetations.
We had our lunch around six pm and regenerated our energy. When we finally reached the grassy meadows near our camp. All felt
happy in the jaunty and jovial atmosphere. Lastly, the stay in our tents became sanctimonious when we enjoyed the warmth of bonfire
and started antakshri. All enjoyed dinner with a variety of food. It was around nine when we went for a long sleep.
On April 14, as we got up from sleep, the bounty of place opened before our eyes. It was a wonderful sight to watch when fog had
surrounded the chain of hills.
The place was looking like an island covered with dense forest. The day's schedule was announced by
the tour operator in the morning and everyone got thrilled because it was the most exciting phase of our tour. Four events were
chosen and trekkers were divided into categories. The first event was Rock climbing. The instructor taught us how to use holds and
palms. The other packages were river rafting, river crossing and bridge crossing. With this the day came to an end. We were set free
at 6 pm and there was a Kabbaddi match which was played between teachers and students. The evening once again came with the
flames of bonfire.
On April 15, all were looking easy and we made our way back to school. While returning back apple orchards and a visit to Virdheswar
temple left us speechless.
Finally we reached at the school in the evening.
The memories of this trip are embedded forever in my heart.
